Tips To Give Your Car The Best Fuel Economy

Have you looked around at gas prices lately? If you have you might have noticed that they seem to be
in a constant state of flux. One minute they are going down and then the next they are going through
the roof. In either case, it is obvious that gas is never going to be cheap like it once was. So what you
need to do is focus on ways to get the best fuel economy out of your car. This is going to help protect
you from unpredictable gas prices that would otherwise eat away at your hard earned money and make you
not want to use your car as much. Here are a few ways to get the best fuel economy.

Start making use of cruise control on your vehicle

Some people seem to have a lead foot when they are driving, but a lot of people do not seem to
realize this. When you are driving, very rarely so you need to alter the speed at which you are going.
There might be some instances where this is the case, but a lot of times it is not needed. So using
cruise control can be a good way to get the best fuel economy. With cruise control you are going to
maintain a constant speed, and this is going to prevent you from going faster than you need to and
burning through more gas than what you need.

Make sure you take the time to plan out your daily routes

When you are driving, whether you are going to work or whether you are going to the grocery store,
you need to map out the quickest way to get there. When I say quick I do not mean you being able to
go at a certain speed. I mean you need to reduce the number of times you have to stop and wait
traffic. This is time where you are burning gas and you are not getting any mileage out of it.

   Tires being too big

Most people these days seem to be all about getting big tires for their car. One reason for this is
because with big tires comes the ability to add big rims, which is a way to accessorize a vehicle. But
in the process of doing this, they are hurting the gas mileage their car might be able to get. When you
put really big tires on a car, both in width and diameter, this is going to affect gas mileage because it
increases weight. It also increases roll resistance.

You want to focus on taking routes that do not have a lot of stop signs. You also want to focus on
routes that do not get a lot of traffic. In these areas you will be able to go a little bit faster and
you will not be held up by lots of other driver. This is going to help you get the best fuel economy out
of your vehicle. One great way you can start doing this would be for you to stop using city streets as
much you do.

What you want to do instead would be to use the highway. On the highway you can maintain a steady
speed and get to where you need to go much faster.

Make sure you prevent from using your breaks too much

Another way for you to get the best fuel economy for your car would be for you to avoid doing things
that take up gas in little amounts too frequently. One thing you might do too much of at the moment
and are not aware of would be using the breaks too much. All this does is waste energy from fuel that

you have already utilized. Also, when you accelerate after breaking all this does is uses up more fuel
than if you were driving your car at a steady, constant speed.

What you want to do when you are on city streets would be to always be looking ahead and slow
down steadily if you see a red light or there is some sort of traffic jam. This is going to help you get
the best fuel economy.
